Rought Draft of Video

Feedback

I. Seeking Feedback
Describe the strategy using social networking or participatory culture tools that you used to virtually seek feedback. Include links and other evidence.

I posted the original video to my Facfacebook.pngebook account and instructed people to email me comments so that they were not swayed by other users’ opinions. I also emailed the clip to friends who fit my target audience. Due to college policy about posting video, photograph, and information about college activities I was told to remove the video post from my account as it had not been cleared by our marketing director. The video was only allowed to be on Facebook for two days before it had to be removed.

II. Feedback Documentation

Document comments from your virtual audience(s) here in the form of quotes.

Even though the video could only be seen for a couple of days I did receive several emails from my target audience which said the following:
“It is dark. Is there any way to lighten the background?” – Tricia H. Allen

“It needs to be more kid friendly. My class lost interest.” – Ms. Gerhardt

“You cannot read the last frame. What is that?” – V. Carney

“When is this? You need dates and times.” – J. Price

III. Revision

Document how you used feedback to revise your story.

Based on the feedback received from reviewers I made the following revisions:

  1. Changed the Animoto theme to a more child friendly version. After making this change my boss loved the fact that a view master type instrument has been used to show people the world since the 1800’s. It was brighter and more child friendly. This corrected both the lighting and target audience problem which needed to be addressed.
  2. The last frame, which was a works cited page was removed. There is now a note on the youtube video which directs viewers to my wiki for a complete list of works cited. Also, the works cited list includes the titles of all books which are clearly visable in the video. Even though education fair use will allow for the cover to be used in a photo promoting literacy and library functions.
  3. I added dates and times for the summer reading program at the end of the video. I also added additional visual and written screen shots to lengthen the video to the required run time and improve the overall quality of the presentation.
